What does a good retirement look like to you? Does it resemble the retirement that your spouse or partner has in mind? Is it at least roughly similar?
   
The Social Security Commission currently projects an average retirement of 19 years for a man and 21 years for a woman (assuming retirement at age 65). So sharing the same vision of retirement (or at least respecting the difference in each other’s visions) seems crucial to retirement happiness (1).

A total of $886,902 dollars in GetBigReward$ credits and rebates were recently paid out to Community Choice members. The payout varied based on member participation in the rewards program. Some members received a few dollars, while other members received more than $600. Whether you’ve already used your reward dollars or still haven’t, here’s a list of some practical and some not-so-practical ways to use your found reward money every year you participate in the GetBigReward$ program.

Children can learn money skills as early as age three! Here are just a few tips to help young credit union surfer savers Catch the Save Wave™: 

  • Have young children—preschool age—sort different types of money into piles by color and size. 
  • Play grocery store or credit union. Help them use a pretend cash register.
  • At the grocery store, let youth of all ages help you shop. Teach them how to comparison shop. For example, show them that for every $4.85 box of cereal, there may be similar brands on sale for half as much.

Community Choice Credit Union pays $886,902 in "big rewards"

Community Choice Credit Union announced today that it has awarded $886,902 to members as part of the first payout through its new member rewards program. The rewards program, called GetBigReward$, was introduced on June 1, 2013 and provides monthly credits and a loan interest rebate to qualified members. Any credits not utilized in 2013 were deposited into member accounts.

"The GetBigReward$ program is designed to reward members who actively use Community Choice products and services," said Tracy Cameron, VP of Retail. "We are very pleased to have provided $886,902 in rewards. With members receiving as much as $630.77 for their 2013 participation, this is an opportunity to pay off holiday debt or plan a summer vacation with their families."

Community Choice Credit Union launches e-Deposit

 Community Choice Credit Union announced today that it now offers e-Deposit. e-Deposit, also known as remote deposit capture, allows users to take pictures of checks and deposit checks from mobile devices, tablets or home computers. The Credit Union, which serves Southeast Michigan, hopes the new service will add convenience and value for its members.

“e-Deposit is a great addition for Community Choice because it allows members to easily deposit checks without having to leave their homes or their businesses,” said Community Choice Product Manager, Audrey Olzem. “When you have freezing weather like we’ve all experienced in Michigan this year, it’s wonderful to know you can do the majority of your banking from a warm and convenient place.”
